Fabulous and Fun Father's Day Activities
By Ann Martin
Take the time and show your dad how much he really means to you, by sharing some special activities with one another. The best part about showing how much you love someone is that money is irrelevant. Homemade gifts and activities are the best presents and truly come from the heart. Dad will treasure these gifts and special times for many years to come. Here are some fabulous and fun Father's Day activities that everyone can take part in.
- Homemade Cards - Get crafty one day with the kids and have them make and design their own Father's Day cards. Have them draw their favorite things or things that Dad really likes. Maybe have the kids make their handprints in the cards using washable paint or using an ink pad. Decorate the card using glitter, stickers, or other colorful decorations. Think outside the box using decorations and use an old golfing score card or even a picture of kids with dad. There are many ways to make a homemade card for dad, just be sure it some from the heart!
- Experience Outdoor Activities - Go for a hike in the woods, playground hop or even go fishing. Getting some fresh air and enjoying the outdoors will be sure to bring everyone closer to one another. You never know, maybe fishing down at the local stream will become a tradition every Father's Day and will become a memorable experience.
- Build Something Together - Dads love to create and build! Why not choose a small project that is age appropriate for children and dads to build together? For example, a picture frame, a bird house and maybe for the slightly older kids a sandbox. Anything is possible, and when you see the finished project, you know that you shared a special experience with your dad.
- His Choice - Have dads choose an activity that they would like to share with the kids. Maybe your dad has a knack for golf. Head over to the local driving range and have him show you his skills. Maybe your dad enjoys baseball since he used to play once upon a time. Take in an afternoon game and let him reminisce about his glory days. Or maybe your dad enjoys cooking and wants to pass down some family recipes to you. No matter the activity, have dads show their kids something for the day and take in that special time with dad.
- Plan a Picnic - Gather all the family and plan a fun outdoor picnic! What better way to show dad your appreciation and love then by having loved ones surround him? Pack up your family's favorites for the picnic, a blanket, some outdoor games (such as horseshoes, badminton, frisbees, and whiffel ball) and don't forget to bring the camera!
As you can see, one doesn't need a whole lot of money to show dad how much he means to you, just spending that precious time dad is a gift in and of itself.
