1970 Starcraft
Skylark Sailboat
First sailboat
purchased in Kenora, Ontario
New Starcraft Skylark 14 foot catamaran type solid
hull, Fiberglas, with two lee boards. The craft was
extremely stable and easily transported.
The mast was 22 feet in length and made of aircraft
aluminum. Rudder and leeboards were also made of
aluminum. Hull colour was blue over white.
Sail was number 2941 with
a solid red stripe near the top.
The craft was sailed extensively
on Lake of the Woods near Kenora until 1973 and
was docked at a rented space at a private dock
in Norman.
It was raced at Twin Lakes, Wisconsin in 1978 where
we took 3rd place in a mixed class event.

Eagle Lake, Ontario
South Porcupine Lake, Ontario
Lake Superior (inside breakwater), Ontario
As of 2002, the boat is currently undergoing needed
repairs by Dave Schmidt, who has been sailing it
this summer (2002)

Purchased used Wayfarer sailboat from Quiet
Waters, Waubaushene, Ontario and brought
it back to Thunder Bay in 2001.
It is a 16 foot Fiberglas dinghy with mainsail and
jib. A retractable centre board was a desired feature
for ease of trailering to various different lakes.
