Fun Snow Day Activities

Isn't it the best, when there is so much snow outside that everything just seems to shut down? It is a nice way to escape the world, even if it is just for the day. Even as a kid, when you heard that announcement that school is closed, there was this instant bit of excitement that you have a free day. Well, that can still pertain today even as an adult. So, next time you hear that a monster snow storm is headed your way, go ahead and invite a few friends and family members over and plan to be snowed in with one another. Here are some fun snow day activities that you can enjoy together with everyone!
Marathon Madness
Have you neglected watching your favorite show for like the whole entire season? Well, now is your time to catch up. It is great if you even have more than one TV, as others could catch up on their shows as well. Set up a marathon and watch your shows' episodes back to back all day long! Get the popcorn popping and the hot chocolate ready and snuggle up for the marathon. If shows aren't your thing, what about a movie marathon? How about the Godfather series? Or the Mission Possible series? No matter what you choose, having a marathon madness is a great way to pass away a snow day!
Game Tournament
One of my favorite board games of all time is Monopoly. But it was always so time consuming and we never had enough time to play the entire game at one sitting. Here's a chance to finally finish and complete a game! Grab your Monopoly board, Scrabble board or even your poker chips and set up a game tournament that can last throughout the entire day! You could set up a few stations of games and after each game is played, then move on to the next game. Then, who ever has won the most games is the game tournament champion!
Get Out In The Snow
Okay, so what fun is it if you don't get out in the snow on a snow day, anyway? There are countless activities to get you moving and having fun out in the fun fluffy white stuff! Here are some fun snowy ideas!
- Snowman Competition - See who can build the silliest and funniest snowman the fastest. Supply a pile of silly accessories for your snowman and get wild! Start by building your snowman or snow creature and then choose the best or worst accessories for your creation. Everyone can take a vote to see who wins!
- Snowball Battles - Either form teams or fend for your self with this spin on the traditional snowball fight. Make and gather as many snowballs as possible. Using food coloring, "dye" your team's snowballs and build up a stockpile of them. Then, let the battle begin! Depending what your opponents are wearing, you could "keep score" on when you see an opponent "wearing" your team's snowball color!
- Sledding Races - Wax up those sled rails and get ready for some racing! Even if you don't have an old fashioned sled, they make such great sleds that our build from manmade materials, they you'll be flying down the hills!
No matter what you choose to do on your snow day, make it fun and celebrate it with family and friends!
